I just finished reading "Lone Survivor". Humbling to say the least. I rate this "5 Stars".
The eyewitness account of the lone survivor from of a group of Navy Seals fighting in the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan. This book helped me better understand why the US military trains the way it does, especially its special forces, and in particular the Navy Seals. I also now better appreciate the pure hatred some Islamic extremists have for Americans and how extremely difficult the war against terror will be on an ongoing basis.
If you ever wanted to learn about what soldiers experience in close quarter combat with bullets flying, grenades exploding, and the heroics of young men and women sworn to defend our nation and their fellow soldiers, then "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell is a must read!
CAUTION: Language used will be offensive to many and includes detailed descriptions of the horrors of war.
